Chassis Skin FAQs
Which chassis thickness should I choose?
Choose 18 mil Outdoor/Clay for rougher outdoor or clay tracks where you want more protection. Choose 10 mil Indoor/Carpet for indoor clay or carpet tracks where a thinner, lighter skin is preferred.
Does my chassis skin come with screw holes?
No. Chassis skins do not come with screw holes pre-cut. After installation, you’ll trim or open the screw holes as needed for your chassis.
Is my chassis skin pre-cut to fit my RC car?
Yes, if you select one of the listed chassis models. Your skin will be cut to the chassis shape you choose. DIY uncut options are also available.
What if my chassis isn’t listed?
If you don’t see your chassis model, contact us before ordering. We may already have the template or may be able to add it.
Can I order an uncut chassis skin?
Yes. Choose one of the DIY Uncut options if you prefer to trim the skin yourself.
How do I install my chassis skin?
Clean the bottom of your chassis thoroughly with rubbing alcohol and allow it to dry completely. Remove the skin from the backing, align it with the chassis, and slowly apply it while pressing from one end to the other to help prevent air bubbles.
Can I use an 18 mil skin indoors?
You can, but the 10 mil option is generally better suited for indoor clay and carpet. The 18 mil material is thicker and designed more for rough outdoor use.
Can the chassis skin be removed later?
Yes. Peel it away slowly when you’re ready to replace it. Adhesive residue, if any, can usually be cleaned from the chassis afterward.
Do you offer custom chassis skins?
Yes! We offer custom chassis skin designs. Custom artwork has a one-time $15 design/setup fee, plus the cost of the chassis skin. Once your custom design is created, you can reorder that same design later without paying the setup fee again.
Custom chassis skin ordering will be added to the website soon. In the meantime, contact us to get started.
